Drive Angry

I was just back from watching this movie-Drive Angry. Thanks to ChurpChurp that gave me the chance to win this movie tickets. I went to 1st Avenue to watch this movie, eventually they are doing some promotion on this Drive Angry that there are like around 10 Ferrari cars exhibit outside 1st Avenue. Whoa..

Actually I didn't know about this movie or search any info before I watch, I just won like that and watch. At 1st I thought it should be a movie like "Fast and Furious" or any other movie that related to car but it came out not I expected. It is somehow a movie that related to hell, human, terrible killing, gun shot and of course driving furiously. I was confused who are human and who are not because you will see a lot of scene like Nicholas Cage still alive after gun shot on the eye, people still walking and talking after gun shot blow off his hand and leg. Lots of blood here and there. It is a bit fake but the worst part is although it wrote down 18 and above, there are two scene that have been cut off by our Malaysian govern make it a bit hard to understand the story line.

Here's the trailer:

Here's the synopsis:

Milton, a hardened felon has broken out of hell for one last chance at redemption. Intent on stopping a vicious cult who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice her baby beneath a full moon. He's joined by Piper - a young, sexy waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend's cherry-red muscle car in order to help Milton. Now, the two of them are hot on the trail of the deadly leader of the cult, Jonah King, who believes it is his destiny to use the baby to unleash hell on earth. But the bloodthirsty cult is the least of Milton's problems. The police are after him too. And worse, an enigmatic killer known only as "The Accountant" - who has been sent by the Devil to retrieve Milton and deliver him back to hell. With wicked cunning and hypnotic savagery, the Accountant will relentlessly pursue Milton at high speed across the country until his mission is accomplished. Fueled by high octane and pure rage, Milton must use his anger to go beyond all human limits to avenge his daughter's murder, before his last chance at redemption is revoked.

Chin Yuen Seafood 金园海鲜 (Recent updated in June 2012)

My family love to come to this place for dinner. A good place must always share with others, so today I will share some good dishes. This place is located at Relau which is before the traffic light to Relau in a coffee shop named Ming An (明安茶餐室). I used to visit this place every week when cousin sister still work in Penang. I love this place is because not of the environment but the food that served in hot hot.

Below are some photos I took when having dinner with my friends who are 1st time visiting this place. We order some of the famous dishes. I wanted to order the herbal chicken but it only available on weekend. There are some special dishes that must try but mostly depends on the days, have to ask the boss. If you are 1st time, don't worry just ask the man who take order to recommend, mostly what he recommended are GOOD. I always do that when I cant figure out what to eat. :D

 Pork meat in thai style

 Tipan Taufu (铁板豆腐) must try!

 Four Season (四大天王) must try!

I can really explain how good is the food there but one thing I can said try for yourself and tell me. I got good comments from my friends and family. Anyway, the parking space there are limited, it is advisable to go there early like 6pm. Normally weekend will be full and packed.

***Recent updated in June 2012: The shop has changed to opposite Kopitiam and still at the same place. I will update another new post soon.

In case anyone don't know the location, here is a map I got from a blog:

Pilihan Raya Kampus USM 2011

Another year come for us, USMsian to vote the suitable candidates to become the MPP (Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar). As usual, campaigns are going on in the whole school, poster and banner are everywhere. Every morning, afternoon and night too for this few days going on and off, I heard lots of voice speaking of the best candidates to choose for. At least, they are not campaigning in the midnight, or else I will have to packed my thing back home to sleep. USM won't be that worst at least, everything still under control.

This year, I can see that most candidates are using the most famous and well-known FB to reach everyone out there. Pages are created to pull votes for them, even videos are there too. This is what we should always do, trend with the technology.

Tan Boon Chuan, one of the UMUM candidates. Why I post his photo here? He is not my friends nor anyone I know. But I found a video about him talking about how USM students be so violent that burn his banner recently. That is bad. How can we USMsian become so violent and immature like those UM students. We are APEX students, quality students that should not be that way. What a shame!

It seem like more competitive this year for all the candidates compare to last year. This year also, all of them are more hardworking in printing banner and promote themselves compare to last year. Anyway, I'll try to find the video back and upload it here. Good luck to all the candidates! I vote you all tomorrow.

This is the candidates from Math School. As a Math school student and senior of his, I have to vote him. Just post his photo here to promote him. Math School students please go and vote either him or anyone u like. At least we done our job as USM studenst to choose for our own leader.

Wok's Restaurant-D'Piazza Mall

I went to have dinner with some friends before we went to Kek Lok See. We came to this restaurant as many  restaurants seem to close that day. This restaurant just has a very short name called Wok, which mean pan. It is located at D'Pizza Mall which is next to D'Food Garden. I went to search about this restaurant online but seem like no blogger review about this restaurant yet. So, let me review here. Lets see what we have ordered for that day.

Since it is our 1st time to be there, usually I like to ask the waiter or waitress to recommend their famous dishes and of course, the waitress there recommended us the following dishes:

Golden Fried Rice-RM9.90
This was the 1st dish the waitress recommended saying it is the most hottest dish where I cant see where any special about it. The taste was very plain, not fragrant at all. Even those hawker stall fried rice is better than this one, I'm sure!

 Crispy Seafood Noodles-RM10.80
This noodles taste not bad, I think the chef put some vinegar inside because when I tasted the gravy, I smell vinegar. The fish balls in there was not normal fish balls but fish ball with meats inside. I don't really fancy about it because of it's heavy meat smell.  Overall it still ok but to say it to be good, not really.

 Oyster Noodles-RM8.80
I didn't manage to taste this dish but I think it should be not bad. It contains lots of oysters and cockles (kerang) but it came with yellow noodles but my friend manage to change it to emperor noodles.

Seafood Green Tom Yam with noodles (but can change to rice)
The green tom yam was very very very spicy. I mean it is really spicy. For those who cant take spicy food, better don't order. It is a warning or you will end up drinking a lot of water. The green tom yam was spicy but the soup was not thick enough, it is like a bowl of water add with green tom yam powder. Normally I order green tom yam from Thai Restaurant but this is totally different. So, don't expect Thai Green Tom Yam like I do.

Chap Goh Meh

Chap Goh Meh also known as Chinese Valentine day.
For this day, we gather ourselves to have a good meal.
Steamboat at home is the best way where everyone can sat and eat together.
I love the feeling where we sweat while eating or busy put stuff in the pot.
What a day I have! :)

Cina Muslim Restoran-D'Piazza (Moved out)

Cousin sister purposely picked this place to have dinner after hearing some good comments about this restaurant. Here's an introduction about the restaurant that I copy from the menu:
Malaysia is a multi-racial country, with the uniqueness requirement in foods and drinks; CMR has started the first China Muslim restaurant in Penang to enable all classes and races of people to enjoy their dinner together. The restaurant cuisine is “Qing Zhen” (Halal) using all Hala materials and cook by Muslim Chefs from The Ningxia Muslim Autonomous Region of China. NingXia is the most dense populated Muslim area. CMR Restaurant provides all types of banquet dinner for all types of banquet dinner for all occations such as wedding, birthday, company functions and etc. CMR also emphasizes in food quality, specialty and provides excellent services to all customers.

Here's the menu

I found something special inside the menu was some dishes could be cook into three different type of meat with the same style. For example, fried tofu with meat- you could choose either to have chicken meat, beef or mutton for the dish.

Here's a lemon with some indian spicy where the waiter gave us to avoid the flies but I don't seem like there is any effect. I still see some flies flying around our food due to it is open air environment.

Here are the dishes we ordered and recommend by the waitress:
Deep-Fried Crispy Calamari-RM8.00
The fried calamari was not has crispy as in Dhoby Ghaut Cafe but the thai sauce was great.

Stir-fried lala with sambal belacan-RM10 (small)
The combination lala with the sauce was indeed good, the sauce smell very nice with belacan but most of the lala served were only shell without the meat inside. I can said the whole plate half of it are shells where you can spot from the photo too.

 Fried string bean-price (don't remember)
A bit oily for fried string bean because when I eat it even a small potion, I can feel that my whole lip was full of oil. I don't feel any taste of it except oil. Not really nice.

Quick boil fish with special sauce-RM30
This is the first time I see fish dishes are quoted with a fixed price where normally most restaurant will wrote "according to kg/season price". This fish was really special because all the meat have been separate in pieces from the bone to boil then it arrange into the shape of a fish. The sauce was special where I currently have not taste it anywhere else yet and hard to describe (i think you have to try it yourself).

 Delicious Jumbo Eggplant-RM 18(small)
Another special dish that recommend by the waitress. The eggplant was cut into slices that still attached together and then deep fried it.It is then served with some chicken slices and tomyam sauce. Quite interesting dish. The tom yam sauce was not spicy at all nor sour too. All the taste for all dishes was not very strong but mild, just right for those who don't consume high salt and sugar.

Stir-Fried Kai Lan with oyster sauce-RM12.00 (big)
Stir fried Kai Lan was a very common dish in Chinese meal but then I really cant help to say that it seem like all the vegetables served in the restaurant are very oily. Is our Malaysia's oil too cheap?

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentines' day is here again,
as usual I'm here and he is there.
A normal day as usual,
where the 1st person I met today was my lecturer.
Dating and candlelight dinner will not happen today.
I guess I just have to daydream it and continue my FYP.
Wrap some chocolates yesterday,
Remind me of the chocolate I gave him before we together.
I remember chocolate should be present by lady to man we interested like the traditional story said.
Then on the next month, if the man interested in you, he will gave u chocolate too.
But he didn't return me chocolate but cheese cake, will that count too? :)
Anyway, Happy Valentines' Day, dear!
ps: I have reserved a chocolate for u!

Cooking day

Since grandma was not in today and I was too lazy to go out "ta bao", I decided to dig the kitchen to see anything can fulfill my stomach. It seem like all raw ingredients in the fridge so I just have to cook myself today. So I came out 2 dishes today, bee hoon siam and fried chickens.

I can said that I'm pass for this Bee Hoon Siam, the taste was about the same as my mom's bee hoon siam. I can said that the texture was exactly the same as mom's. Wahaha.. Score myself 9/10 for it.

For the fried chicken, I think I have messed up with the wrong flour. I just grabbed any flour I see on the tray and just simply mix it. The fried chicken was crispy but not as crispy as my grandma's fried chicken. I will failed myself for this dish. I'll score myself 6/10.

Dhoby Ghaut Cafe-Sg Nibong

Grandma was planning to have dinner outside tonight and suggested we go to the place that we missed last time since we go there too early (not yet start business). It is Dhoby Ghaut Cafe that is at Sg Nibong, behind Goh Teoh Kee which you will see something like kampung rooftop. Since it was our first time there, I order one potion from each stall that I see to try out. I found out that they have renovated their stalls, new signboard in each stalls. I took some photos but seem like a bit blur with hp camera at night. Maybe it is time for me to change a better hp camera.

When arrived to a table, you can see that every table place a number card so it is easy for customer to place order and also easy for the hawkers not to make any order wrong.

I have order a bowl of curry mee which cost me RM3.00, resonable price. Other than curry mee, you can also add other ingredients like fish balls, meat balls, fried chicken and many more. At first when the lady asked me whether to add any extra, I was very interested but after i saw all those ingredients I really shocked and answer normal please! I still prefer original curry mee because I feel like the extra ingredients not really can mix with the curry mee. According to my grandma, the curry mee is not "lemak" enough, still she prefer the one in Super Tanker-Taman Lip Sin. For me I think it is alright, same as any other curry mee. Maybe old people's tongue is still very sensitive compare to young people.

I also order a plate of fried sotong that cost RM9 (will it be expensive?) but the potion is a bit big, enough for 3 person. I must said I love this very much. The fried sotong is crispy, not only that the most important is it is not oily at all, inside the skin you won't feel any oil too. This is the best thing for people like me who scare of oily food. Thumb up for this! Anyway, the fried sotong came with thai sauce that you must eat it with if not it will be tasteless. Besides fried sotong, this seafood stalls also provide a lot dishes like spicy octopus, sweet and sour octopus, flower clams, lala and many more.

Lastly, I have order the famous Koay Teow Thn'g that written in most of the food blog. I saw there is a sticker of our Malaysian food TV show " HoChak" on the stall. It should be very famous. Since my first time in this place, I just tell the boss I want Koay Teow Thn'g without adding any extra ingredients. There is a signboard stated Teo Chew Duck meat Koay Teow Th'ng, I  thought my order was that since I didn't mention what meat I want. Then when it came I do not see any duck meat instate it have pig intestine, blood cube(not sure whether it is duck or pig), chicken meat and no fish ball (since i don't want). This bowl cost me RM4.00 (expensive?). The soup taste not bad and it is clear without a lot of oil inside. But still I prefer the duck meat Koay Teow Th'ng in Bayan Baru market.

Besides, I found that this stall also famous for its Duck Meat Bean Sprout which many blogger introduce. Dad love duck meat, should bring him here next time when he visit Penang. When come to duck meat, I always prefer to go along with a bowl of rice, then only we can really get the taste of the duck meat than a bowl of koay teow soup.

拜天公 pai tian gong

Today was a special day for all Hokkien people.
 Oh yes, Pai Tian Gong!
15 minutes before midnight,
candles were lighten up,
time to pray to the God.
Fireworks boom nonstop,
Merrier than CNY.
We do everything simple this year,
as long as we are sincere,
I believe God won't mind.

KoChaBi (KCB) Malaysian Traditional Ice-cream

I went to Gurney Plaza with my brother on CNY and discover this ice-cream stall. Actually it was my brother who discover this stall from forum and introduce to me. Of course, we wont miss the opportunity to try it. It was famous because of it cheap price which we can hardly find in any shopping mall now days except in McDonalds. RM1.00 ice-cream potong in shopping mall, can you imagine?

So it come with 5 different type of packaging either in stick, personal pack, family pack, soft ice-cream in cone and soft ice-cream in cup. Besides, it also come with 10 flavors which are red bean, durian, cempedak, jagung, yam, strawberry, papaya, kiwi, mint and vanilla.

I bought durian flavour in stick since brother said it is famous for that. The ice-cream not easily melt although I used about 20-30 minit to finish it. The durian smell was strong but taste was a bit plain, not sweet or creamy enough. Maybe those who do not like sweet food may found it quite nice. Overall, i think it is normal only but for the price it is cheap since only RM1.00 for stick ice-cream. I still like the durian flavour I found in OUG pasar malam.

747 cafe @ Penang (Moved Out)

This year reunion dinner, my family decided to have it outside since mom not feeling well. We have choose to go for 747 cafe that is at YMCA building. We always go for lunch when dad came back from KL. This is the 1st time, we try out their chinese new year eve dishes. There two set to choose either RM 438 or RM538, so we go for RM538(quite reasonable price on CNY eve). Since it is CNY eve, a lot of people make booking on the day to have reunion dinner including us, so they have it in YMCA hall not in the restaurant itself.

 Fatt Choy Yee Shang
(Chinese New Year & Auspicious raw fresh salmon fish)
The taste not bad, normal only.

Mandarin Delight Shark's Fin Soup D'Orient
(A great taste of the orient for all sharks' fin lovers specially prepared with dry scallops & seafood and cook to the perfection)
Taste great, it has a lot of scallops and shark fins inside.

 Traditional Herbal Chicken
(Fresh country chicken, specially marinated and braised with traditional recipes)
They took kampung chicken to cook, a bit small potion for 10 persons. The taste of herbal is not enough, but chicken meat were very soft and tender.

 Chef's Special Pumpkin Cheese Prawns
(Fresh prawns specially selected for the celebration of CNY)
The pumpkin cheese sauce was very special, the prawns were big, not bad!

Braised Sea Cucumber with Fish's Maw and Broccoli
(Fresh sea cucumber stir fried & garnished with mushroom, broccoli & fish's maw)
This dish was spoiled by the fish's maw. The fish's maw has a sour taste and too soft, not fresh at all. The sea cucumber still okay but very little and cut into very small pieces. Taste still consider normal.

Steamed Pomfret with soya sauce
(Fresh pomfret specially caught from surrounding water & steamed with native way)
nothing special about this fish, taste normal.

 Fried Rice in Lotus Leaves
(Fried rice with CNY delicacies)
It is tasteless plus the chinese sausages had a very strong smell. This dish not very nice, left a lot at the end.

Honey Dew with Sago
(A light & luxurious dessert to compliment year wonderful evening)
The dessert very sweet but the taste still not bad.

The food was not bad except that it is lack of some CNY music to be play during the dinner. Also, the dishes came a bit slow(we need to wait about 10-15 min for another dish to come), the waiter/waitress there kept making the wrong mistake in serving the wrong dishes to the wrong table. I think they need to train them first, at least let them know the menu of the 8 dishes for each set.
