Flight Club- Herbs and Seed Inspired by Plaza Premium Group | KLIA

Before the new year started, I'm glad that I could end my 2015 food review on a special place that normally I don't go except when I travel overseas. Thanks to Plaza Premium Group's invitation to their latest new dining place at KLIA-Flight Club. Flight Club is located at Level 2, International Departures, directly opposite with Plaza Premium Lounge.

We were given a special pass to go through security to access the International Departures. It made us felt like we were flying off again.

Flight Club is a brand new dining concept that was launched by Plaza Premium Group in Oct 2015. It is an innovative and culinary concept that give travellers a new airport dining experience in a fresh, natural and delicious manner. Inspired by herbs and seeds, all dishes are created to embrace a healthy lifestyle when travelling.

Goodness me, a table full of delicious food waiting to be tried! This is how I end the last days of 2015 loaded of food.

Their signature juices are pure goodness of chilled fruits and vegetables supplemented with a selection of herbs and seeds, slow and cold-pressed without any added sugar, water and ice.

Happy Tum Tum-For better digestion-RM 16
Come with of green apple, celery, cucumber, green pepper and bitter melon.
The C Booster- Boost your immunity with a blast of C-RM 16
Come with ornge, grapefruit, pineaplle, ginger and chia seed.

Before I begin, just to remind all readers that the some of portions show below are 30-40% smaller than the usual size as we need to try out more than 10 dishes that day, the chefs purposely prepared smaller portions for each dish. We were also glad that we don't waste those delicious food.

6 Degree Celsius Fresh Cameron Highland Tomato Soup-RM 12
Farm style tomato soup that is served at 6 degrees celcius cold. It is quite special as we normally had our soup in hot rather than cold. It doesn't taste like a regular tomato soup; it is not sour and there is a subtle sweetness in it, very refreshing!

Hydroponic Baby Cos " Caesar's Style"- RM 16
A nice bowl of salad, kind of neglected by us in this table of delicacies, but I really like the colours and the addition of grapefruit to the salad. The chicken strips are grilled and full of flavour, definitely a good appetizer.

Home-grown Farmer Tomatoes-RM 12
An exotic combination of oriental flavours- a bird's nest of papaya salad dressed with roasted ground peanut, tamarind sauce and tossed with mint leaf.

Flight Club @ KLIA
East Meets West-RM 16
Creamy avocado in a cheesy mornay sauce and smoked chicken ham, topped with fresh coconut milk and mixed herbs croutons. I really love this together with the garlic bread, creamy and tasty.

The Englishman's Fish & Chips-RM 26
River fish fillet coated with multi-grain seed batter, served with a classic apple cider vinaigrette and tartar sauce.

Flight Club @ KLIA
Prawn Risotto-RM 30
Served with freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and a hint of lemon and orange zest.

Flight Club @ KLIA
1824 Beef Cheek-RM 42
Braised in beef jus with mirepoix and bouquest garni, (a combination of aromatic vegetables and herbs to lightly flavour the stock) and served with couscous grain, buttered-verly Cameron Highlands vegetables and miso gravy. For those who love beef, I recommend to try out this beef cheek, very soft and tender beef cheek meat that you won't regret having it.

Squid Ink Pasta- RM 25
Artisan homemade fresh pasta coloured and flavoured with squid ink, cooked with squid, tomato julienne, cilantro and virgin olive oil. I personally love this dish as well, somehow I just couldn't get enough of the complex squid ink taste!

Vegetarian Fried Rice ala Flight Club-RM 20
Fragrant white rice, stir fried with a host of superfoods; chia seed, pine nut, sunflower seed, sesame seed, assorted vegetables and raisins. If you are vegetarian, no worries. Flight Club also offer vegetarian dishes that you can dine with.

Fish Fillet in Peanut and Mixed-herbs Crust- RM 30
Fillet of seabass marinated with Louisiana Cajun spices and herbs, served with local potato and verly Cameron Highlands vegetables.

Lamb Stew- RM 35
Tender lamb mince stew, slow-cooked in rosemary juice served with local seasonal vegetables, salad and soft tortilla. As for those who like lamb, this is very nice indeed. You eat it together with the tortilla and they really blend well together,

Beetroot Ice cream with cheese cake-RM 15
This dish is either you love or you hate it. I notice that not a lot of people can accept the taste of beetroot and just so coincidently, Flight Club offers one of their signature dessert on beetroot. They created the beetroot ice cream. It is eye opening for me as I rarely see people use vegetables in ice-cream. If you are quite used to beetroot however, I would recommend to try it. The cheese cake plus beetroot ice cream actually goes well together.

Double Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake-RM 15
This chocolate lava cake requires 15 minutes to prepare because the cake is only baked when there's an order. So plan and order in advance. The result of it is, when you cut open the cake the chocolate inside spews out like hot lava, a must try for desert lovers!

Cempedek Ice Cream- RM 10
If you prefer a stronger taste ice-cream like cempedak, here is where you can get it. All ice-cream from Flight Club are made freshly and organic every few days. This will be the must-try dessert I will have if I visit here again.

You can also add additional RM 18++ for free flow of salad, soup and water.

If you are in a hurry and would like to grab some bite. Flight Club also offered take away wrap that you can order at their take away counter. You can also design your own wrap if you have special preference in your food.

On a different note, if you are looking a place to bath and relax after a long haul flight, Plaza Premium Group has two outlets in KLIA-Wellness Spa &Wellness Salon that provide spa, massage and beauty services. This is a place where if you have some spare time when transiting between flights, you can rent a small room to relax and refresh yourself. I think the prices are quite reasonable, it's just that we normally don't spend any spare time at KLIA so it's a pity we can't try it out.

Honey Crème - Organic Premium Soft Serve Ice Cream | Desa Sri Hartamas

Thank you Honey Creme for the invitation to their official launch in Desa Sri Hartamas. For your info, Honey Creme is a Korean-style premium organic soft-serve ice cream brand, a joint venture business of Korean-Taiwanese origins. Honey Creme is present in countries such as Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia.

Here is the interior of the new outlet.

Honey Comb comes in 11 flavours for cup and 7 flavours for cone. Though both cup and cone may come with the same flavour but they do give a different feeling and taste.

Let see what we have that day! We tried a total of 3 flavours- Comb Honey, Popcorn and Organic Cotton Candy.
Signature Honey Comb Soft Serve(Cup)
According to Honey Creme, their raw honeycomb is from prestige bee farms globally, provides a natural sweetness, omitting the need for artificial sugar sweeteners.

Signature Honey Comb Soft Serve(Cone)
I actually like the cone more than the cup where I can try out the cone biscuit at the same time though the ice cream melted fast on a hot day.

Caramelized Popcorn Soft Serve
Big crunchy caramelized popcorn on top the ice cream, not very sweet and its a good combination with the ice cream.

Organic Cotton Candy Soft Serve
Honey Creme’s fluffy white version does not contain any artificial colouring and flavouring. Sweet cotton candy studded with specks of Italian pink rock salt is a play of contrast on the taste buds.

F&B Edition Worthy Book 2015/2016 is back again!

F&B Edition Worthy Book is back again for 2015/2016. If you are new to this worthy book, let me tell you a bit more about it. The F&B edition worthy book is a food guide + voucher booklet that gives you meals discounts and deals at some of the popular F&B eateries.
This year, the brands included are 3 Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf, A Pie Thing, BBQ Chicken, Blackball, Brotzeit, Capricciosa, Carl's Jr., Dal.komm, Deutsches Haus,Madame Waffle, MyBurgerLab and many more.

The book is easy to carry, it is just the size of a A5. I just throw it inside my bag wherever I go, not to miss out the deals just in case I bump into one of the eateries listed.

Let's check out the deals vouchers that I have used for the week and amount I have saved!

1. Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks
We used the RM 5 off voucher for spending around RM 30. More than 16% save on our lunch on Thursday.

2. Kluang Station
Saturday lunch, we went to Kluang station. We managed to use the voucher again for a 20% discount off the total bill. I saved a total of RM 8.54 for my lunch. The amount saved doesn't seem very significant because the amount we ordered wasn't big enough.

3. Morganfield's
So on Sunday, I met up with my friends at Morganfield to have dinner. We ordered a big platter and salad to share as the portion is big. I used the 15% discount voucher from the worthy book and this round we saved about RM 41.78 from the bill.

In total of three meals, we have saved around RM 55.32 for the week. I only uses three vouchers from the book, imagine if I continue to use around 20%-30% of the vouchers, I can save more than I can imagine. There is a deadline to the vouchers, it is until 30 September 2016. I still have 10 months to go for more saving!

Are you excited like I am now? If you are food lover like I do and non stop visiting eatries weekly like me, I would reckon to get this book to give you some saving.

The F&B edition worthy book is selling RM 29.90 online here.  You can also get from all major bookstores (MPH, Times, Popular, Borders and Kinokuniya), myNews.com and 7-Eleven outlets in Klang Valley.

O'Briens "Best Sandwich Competition" Workshop | Cyberjaya

I was invited to the O'Briens "Best Sandwich Competition" Workshop recently at one of their branches in Cyberjaya. Thank you so much to Seeties and O'Briens for the invitation that gave me a great experience in making O'Briens sandwich.

Today, I'm going show you the techniques on how to make a proper O'Briens sandwich, let's go!

The counter was full of ingredients from meats to cheese and different types of vegetables that can be used for making O'Briens sandwich.

Let's get a cup of coffee before work starts! I ordered their Americano, quite like the taste. Their coffee beans are from Singapore with their own house blend. You can also purchase their coffee beans/powder from the outlet which costs RM 43.30/ 200g.

*Ta-da* Change into the O'Briens staff-look outfit. Prepare to make some sandwich! But it's not just about the looks only, the cap and apron is compulsory in order to enter the counter, which makes it hygienic to prepare the sandwiches.

Before we start, the outlet manager-William explain to us on the ingredients they have and types of breads they serve. William told us that the ideal sandwich ratio is Bread + 1 Main Filling + Cheese+ 3 Salads + 1 Sauce. Got your pen written down?

The staffs demonstrated to us how to prepare a sandwich, and I'd say it's super fast! We had to ask them to slow down in order to observe each step they go through.

Our O'Briens model of the day.

Now it is my turn to show my skill on making sandwiches with guidance from the staffs. :P
Of course, besides the cap and apron, I also had to wear some plastic gloves when it comes to handling the food.

To get a good sandwich, it is all about the cutting technique of the bread. The bread has to be cut into half evenly. I picked Ciabatta as my bread, though it may look easy but the bread was quite flat, so it was really hard for me to cut into half plus it have to be even.

Next just spread the butter onto one side of the bread, then with chicken slices and cheese before we put it into the oven to bake.

Hot from the oven, next I put in a second filling-Tuna Flakes. I wasn't suppose to put in second filling but I feel it will taste better if there is some watery ingredient in between which will make it taste much more filling once you bite into it.

Tuna Flakes-250g, standard from O'Briens.

Lastly, add in the vegetables. I add in the green/red peppers and lettuce to make it more crunchy and crunchier!

Here comes the last cutting part, cutting it into half to be as prefect as possible.

Whola! My 1st O'Briens Sandwish is done!

We arranged all the sandwiches made by other bloggers on the table, prepared for the judges to give marks. My sandwich looks rather thick as I added two fillings and lots of lettuce on the top.

Before they announce the winner, O'Briens' staffs gave William a surprise birthday and we all made it more merrier for him by singing a birthday song to him.
Happy 27th Birthday, William! Oops, I revealed his age..haha..

Back to the sandwich competition, so they announced the winner. Before I realise what was going on, I was handed the gift from William. OMG, I'm the winner for the " Best Sandwich Competition"! I'm so happy! Thanks for the staff's guidance and advice!

Before we end the workshop, we were introduced to their new orange juice machine that is able to squeeze fresh orange juice from it. The machine is designed to squeeze whole oranges with the skin intact, it separates both skin and juice at the same time.

It needs 6 oranges to make a cup of fresh orange juice, pure indeed.

Fresh Orange Juice- RM 12.30

Their goodies bag with vouchers and chips!

Overall, I enjoyed this event very much. I never had any chance to eat O'Briens sandwiches before as I always thought that the prices are quite expensive. After this experience, I fully understand that they use very high quality and fresh ingredients. It's very hard to see it that way until you really eat their sandwiches and drink their beverages. I'm sure that I'll be revisiting O'Briens again next time when I want to eat some gourmet sandwiches.
